Using a Reconstruction Locking Compression Plate as External Fixator in Infected Open Clavicle Fracture
Open clavicle fracture is an uncommon injury mostly caused by severe direct trauma. It is often associated with multiple organ injuries. Generally, surgical intervention with debridement and fracture repair is always indicated in order to prevent infection, non-union, and malalignment. In situations of bony exposure and significant contamination concomitant with severe soft tissue damage, the e...

This study aimed to evaluate the outcome of using a locking compression plate (LCP) as a definitive external fixator in the management of infected nonunion of the humeral diaphysis after failure of internal fixation. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed a series of seven patients with infect...
متن کاملBilateral clavicle non-unions treated with anteroinferior locking compression plating (LCP): a case report.
The author reports the case of a 30-year-old female patient with bilateral atrophic non-union of the clavicle; the latter both healed after internal fixation with a locking compression plate fixed on the anteroinferior aspect of the clavicle, combined with autologous cancellous bone grafting. The advantages of the anteroinferior positioning of the plate on the clavicle are presented.
